连锁超市巨头沃尔玛试图在纽约开店，但纽约人很可能要给它吃闭门羹，这将是纽约第三次决绝沃尔玛了。初看这一现象着实让人费解，商品齐全丶物美价廉的大超市有什么不好，为什么纽约人要拒之于千里之外呢？要知道，在中国国内，附近有没有一家大超市可是人们判断这一区域好坏的重要标准之一。在很多城市，不少大型超市往往开在繁华的市中心。而在美国，情形却大相径庭。笔者在美国生活了一段时间以后才知道，沃尔玛等大型超市一般只是开设在地广人稀的城郊地带，很难有机会进入一线大城市的中心地带。
　　下面是笔者在拉斯维加斯郊区拍摄的沃尔玛超市，晚上8点左右，偌大的超市，却没有几个顾客。
　一度占据世界500强榜首的沃尔玛是商业巨无霸的代表，在不少美国人眼里，它却是集恶之大成者：工资过低丶侵犯劳工权益丶阻挠成立工会丶压低供货商价格间接造成血汗工厂……
　　当郊区市场日益饱和以后，沃尔玛开始进军纽约丶芝加哥等大都市，但在这里，它显然不受欢迎。为什么？理由很简单，用许多美国人的话说，沃尔玛是“魔鬼”。
　　是否同意让全球最大的百货连锁店沃尔玛到市区开辟新店，连旧金山这样的大都市也对此展开过激烈辩论，公听会由市议会和小商业委员会主持，压倒性的意见是将之拒之门外。
沃尔玛连锁店被许多美国城市拒之门外，已经是持久的“新闻”了。沃尔玛连锁店计划在佛蒙特州开设数家新店的举措，甚至遭到了一个全国性的环境保护组织的狠批，称之将沦为摧毁迷人自然景观和历史遗迹的罪魁祸首。
　　虽然很多大型企业都存在类似的问题，但是树大招风，沃尔玛在美国的品牌形象一直不好，媒体在提到沃尔玛时，总是有意无意冠之以“魔鬼”的称呼。总之，在美国语境里，沃尔玛代表着资本家唯利是图的本性。
　　笔者在美国生活一段时间发现美国人对哈根达斯几乎不感冒，更别说当作一个品牌推崇。“爱她就给她吃哈根达斯”这句在中国广为流传的广告语只会让美国人费解。据《国际先驱导报》的报道称，这种品牌地位的落差不只有哈根达斯。DQ冰激凌丶Coach包丶倩碧化妆品丶味千拉面丶吉野家快餐等等，目前一些纷纷出事的在中国很知名的“洋品牌”，其实在它们的老家都很“平民”，有些甚至几乎快要失去本土舞台。可是转战中国后，它们不但恢复了活力，甚至变身为“贵族”，可谓“西方不亮东方亮”。
　　沃尔玛表示在美国经济处于困境的背景下，他们的扩张可以带来弥足珍贵的就业机会。但很多美国人不以为然，他们说沃尔玛在带来就业机会的同时，却会让无数社区“小买卖”的店主失业。沃尔玛在中国的经营模式在给我们带来丰富廉价的物品同时，是给我们传统商业模式带来好处还是带来隐患，是一个值得深思的问题！
