芝加哥交通攻略

女大学生

一位上海的朋友在美国旅游时给我QQ留言说，芝加哥的城市交通非常方便，与上海一样。到芝加哥后，我真的去体验了搭乘芝加哥的公共交通。
我住的地方离市区差不多30多英里，在市郊，巴士比较少而慢。所以出行选择乘火车。通常由侄儿送我去火车站，下午乘火车回来，下车后则要步行25分钟到侄儿家。
侄儿家附近这个站叫Clarendon Hills。Hills 是山丘的意思，但这里既没有山也没有丘。平时这个车站静静的，铁轨两边是免费停车场，清晨市民先开车到车站，将车泊在停车场，再直接走到站台候车，通常火车快到了，站台才突然多了许多人。

芝加哥的这种火车实际是通勤火车为上下班的市民丶上学学生以及住在城外的居民提供便利的交通工具。Metra大概有近十条线，由几家公司经营。我要乘的浅绿色的bnsf线是Metra 最繁忙的线路，从早晨4点多直到晚上11点来往于芝加哥市内的联合车站。每天约有6-7万人次搭乘。在上下班时间差不多10来分钟一班，但是为了提高效率，并非每站都停。乘客要根据自己的上班时间去确定你要搭的班次和时间。
从Clarendon Hills 去芝加哥，我喜欢搭早晨8点23分去芝加哥这班火车，中途只停了一个站，到芝加哥联合车站也只要20多分钟左右。而下午从芝加哥联合车站开回的班次则站站停，大约40分钟。Metra为了方便乘客，有很多站几乎几百米一个，每个区间2-5分钟。Metra车厢是双层，如果看过电影《源代码》，就是芝加哥的这种通勤火车。Metra非常准点。

Metra车站像国内的巴士站，在一间不大的屋子，一个窗口售票，还有些座位，卫生间。室内有空调。车票分别是单程，一日来回，十日。

火车分上下层，上下班高峰后火车很空。我喜欢坐在上层。


Metra上下车不剪票，车开后列车员就来查票，在票上打个眼。也可在车上补票，但要多付手续费。在我表姐家的那个站，车站没有售票处，只有候车的亭子，需要上车购票，这里不需付手续费。但芝加哥出发则要先购好票否则要付手续费。从我侄儿这里的Clarendon Hills站去我表姐家的站是2条不同线路需要转车。先乘到芝加哥联合车站，再转紫色线。我那天因为时间关系，从联合车站上转乘来不及购票，于是上车补票，结果要多付3美金手续费。

在市区主要的公共交通工具则是地铁和巴士。芝加哥地铁简称El，“L”是elevated的缩写，意思是高架。在芝加哥市内卢普区，El都是穿梭在城市的建筑森林里，部分线路进入北区后便在地下行驶。

十来年前看了一场桑德拉.布洛克演的电影《当你入睡的时候》（While You Were Sleeping）又叫《二见钟情》，故事说的是桑德拉.布洛克扮演的El 售票员的浪漫故事，就发生在芝加哥地铁。



芝加哥的El共有8条线，用颜色代表不同的线路。El四通八达，总长超过389公里，每天搭乘的人数约几十万人。有的线路通宵营运。其中蓝色和橘色分别通向芝加哥的奥黑尔和中途机场。
El票价2.25美元，但是下车后在2小时内，再搭公共巴士，只需付25美分，2小时内，再一次搭El或巴士则免费。外地旅客在机场，火车总站，旅游中心可以买1-7天的套票，无限次搭乘，也可以在芝加哥CTA的网站定。

El的不同线路的转乘只要不出站不需另外购票。同一站台可能停靠不同线路，如果不明白要向工作人员了解。El火车头有标注不同颜色的线路。El在市区的每个站距离很近，几乎每个街区就有个站，非常方便。
El的高架由金属结构建成，显得陈旧，绣迹斑斑。有时车开的很快，车身摇摇晃晃，我不禁有些担心，有些路段又减速行驶，可能正在维修。

如果英文不好，最好在乘车前研究一下El的线路图，或在家先做好功课。把你的出发站和目的站记在一个小本上，万一坐错或坐过站好问人，美国人很热心助人。

在我买的旅游小册子《芝加哥》里，特别推荐乘坐El 是旅游芝加哥的一个必游项目，它特别推荐在卢普区搭棕色线，这是最好的环游市区的线路，尤其可欣赏芝加哥的摩天大楼，还将穿越芝加哥河北上，在任何站可原路返回，不需出站。
El穿越芝加哥河，El是有芝加哥特色的一道风景。


不过我那天搭乘棕色线却遇到一些状况，不过在好心芝加哥市民的帮助下，化解了困境，这是另一篇博客的故事。
去芝加哥一定要去搭乘Metra和El，这真的是非常好的体验。
